Announcing BIOQUANT Life Science 2019

NEW EDITING TOOLS

The Editing region has changed quite a bit in this version. The number of tools has increased substantially. Note in particular that there are now 4 kinds of Draw tools, 4 kinds of Erase tools, 2 new Separate tools, and 2 Clean tools. Many of these new tools help with separating touching cells and are useful with the Measure Cells and Myofibers Measurement Types.

Click Object to Separate 1 is used to separate touching thresholded objects when the system can detect both separation points. When the user clicks the Separate 1 button, the system detects touching cells. It puts a yellow box and blue box at either end of separation locations. When the user clicks on accurately detected cells, they separate.

Fast speed, megapixel image size

BIOQUANT now supports the JENOPTIK GRYPHAX® PROKYON camera from Jenoptik.

Live in brightfield and fluorescence (60fps). 2.1, 9.2, or 20.7 megapixel image size. Dynamic range 73.3 dB, True color camera. Sensitivity exposure up to 60 seconds and Gain up to 30. Native BIOQUANT drivers.

New TWAIN Support

TWAIN is a standards based way of transferring images between imaging devices and imaging software. If the camera or printer/scanner in the lab has a TWAIN interface, BIOQUANT can likely connect to it now.

Imaging

BIOQUANT Life Science collects data on images of tissue slides, welled plates, or anything else that can be captured with the camera or scanned into an image.

Life Science Imaging Options

The decision of how to collect images in your laboratory is important. There are several imaging techniques for the analysis of tissues and cell cultures. The best technique for you lab to use will depend on many factors including available laboratory equipment, the number of people that need to collect data, and the available budget.

Open Image Files

  • Open existing TIF, BMP, PNG, JPG, or DICOM files

  • Open very large digital scans (up to 4 GB) saved from a slide scanner or stitched together with 3rd party software

  • Open single files saved from your digital camera, a series of images (up to 1,000)

  • Open IMG receptor binding assays

  • Open DICOM X-ray or MicroCT files

Live Image From Microscope

  • Fast live imaging at 30 frames/second directly in Measurement window

  • Dynamic adjustment of Auto Exposure, Gain, and Background Correction within the Measurement window.

  • Enhanced Live Overlay: Measure on a live image and redraw measurement tracings on a live image

Use BIOQUANT SCAN to Digitize SLIDE

  • The BIOQUANT SCAN Add-on supports bright field, polarized light, and fluorescence slide scanning. 

  • Scan up to 8 tissue sections on 4 slides. The typical scan time is about 8 minutes per section with a 20X objective.

  • Scan up to 96 wells per plate, at a typical scan time of about 3 minutes per well with a 10X objective.

  • Scans loads into our Large Image Navigator. The Large Image Navigator is like a virtual microscope

BIOIMAGER Scanner

BIOIMAGER: a modular, inverted, scanning microscope. Scans up to 0.28 microns per pixel in transmitted light, polarized light, darkfield, and multi-channel fluorescence.
